Tickets for February 8th: A Choral Celebration of Maurice Ravel and Lili Boulanger - 7:30 PM, Westmoreland UCCC

$20.00

Our 2025 festival concludes with a choral celebration of two works by Maurice Ravel and Lili Boulanger, both presented for the first time in new versions for chamber orchestra. Boulanger and Ravel were perhaps the two most famous entrants in the prize for the Prix de Rome in composition: Boulanger as the first successful female winner, and Ravel for the infamous 1905 snub that resulted in a national outrage. On this concert, you will hear L'aurore, the work Ravel submitted to the 1905 competiion, alongside his more famous 1905 work, Shéhérazade, sung by Laura Choi Stuart. The program concludes with Boulanger's magnum opus, her setting of Psalm 130, Du fond de l'abîme. The concert takes place at 7:30 PM at Westmoreland Congregational Church of Christ.
